DeMarcus Cousins Becomes 5th All-Star to Join Warriors: Can They Be Beat?

July 4, 2018 | CBN

And so another exciting free agency period is among us.

First, let’s talk about DeMarcus Cousins’s new move. While it’s not the riskiest deal ever made ($5.3 mill), Cousins has just signed onto the Golden State Warriors for a single year deal, making that a total of 5 NBA All-Stars on one team.

The Warriors lineup also features Curry, Durant, Thompson, Green and Iguodala. Needless to say, the team is pleased to welcome Cousins aboard.

Rumor has it (according to Complex.com) that Cousins was picked over Dwight Howard – who completed a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets and is now on track to sign a 1- year deal with the Washington Wizards once waivers are cleared (re: The Athletic).

Now of course, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room. King James moves from the East to the West, leaving the Cavs behind for an extensive 4-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. A $154 million deal, at that (the max that the Lakers could offer). Wow.

"For him, it’s just business as usual”, former LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was quoted saying during a Monday appearance on ESPN’s “The Jump”.

"He’ll come to work. He’ll work hard every single day. I’m really excited for our young players, because they get a chance to watch him work up close and so I think that speeds up their learning curve. …I think it’s just important for ‘Bron just to be himself and continue doing what he’s been doing."

Well, these are just some of the pretty interesting developments this free agency period, that’s for sure. But when hasn’t that ever been the case? The ever-changing landscape of basketball is always keeping the fans on their toes.
