There’s a new energy on the court

In a riveting game on Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Atlanta Hawks finally beat their opposing team 123 – 118 for the first time since the year 2016.

"Atlanta was better prepared and played harder," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers. "They came in with an intent to win the game. You could feel it through the game." (Associated Press)

Hawks rookie Trae Young contributed a generous 26 points to the game, with John Collins, who had just returned from an ankle injury that kept him out for a month, contributing 22 points.

"He's really been composed over the last couple games," Collins said of teammate Young. "He's made an effort to really make the right play." (AP)

Also during the game: Alex Len scored 19, and Dewayne Dedmon slam dunked.

We’re beginning to even see better plays from DeAndre’ Bembry and Taurean Prince – and if the team continues to show consistent improvement, the Hawks could really start to soar.

"We showed up and thought we were going to win. We're just not good enough to do that”, said coach Rivers. (AP) The Clippers could have had a four-game winning streak if not for Atlanta’s win.

Maybe the young team has learned something new from their victory – it will be interesting to see how their next game plays out against Sacramento on Wednesday night.
